Community Conversations at the Wyndham Multicultural Lunar Festival 2026
At the Wyndham Multicultural Lunar Festival 2026, AAFCS was proud to be out in community, sharing more about the work Asian Australians for Climate Solutions is building and inviting people into practical pathways for climate action, including our Wealth Solutions Club.
We were grateful to Environment Victoria for providing stall space and support on the day. Together, we kept the focus on what matters most to many households: everyday sustainable living and making home electrification feel more practical, accessible and achievable.
What stood out most were the real and honest conversations we had with local community members, especially around solar. People shared a range of concerns and barriers that continue to shape how they engage with clean energy at home. These included the high upfront costs of installation, worries about rent increases for tenants, concerns about possible roof damage, questions about the value of solar for households that use more power at night, and the overall complexity of the process. For many, especially older community members and those facing language barriers, the pathway can feel difficult to navigate.
These insights are deeply valuable. They offer a grounded reminder that the energy transition is not only about technology or policy, but also about trust, accessibility and whether people feel supported enough to take the next step.
The conversations we had at the festival will help shape how we improve future events, resources and engagement. They reinforce the need for communication that is clearer, more inclusive and better aligned with what communities are actually experiencing.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat. We are listening, learning and continuing to build alongside community.
