Strengthening Community Connections at a Chinese New Year Meetup in Melbourne

On 7 March, the AAFCS Melbourne team attended a Chinese New Year community meetup hosted by Victorian Greens MP Ellen Sandell.

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with members of Melbourne’s inner-city Chinese community, meet local leaders, and share more about AAFCS’s work on practical and community-led climate solutions.

Gatherings like this play an important role in building the relationships that make meaningful climate engagement possible. They create space for conversation, trust and connection, and remind us that climate action begins with community. By showing up, listening and engaging with people where they are, we can help foster the long-term relationships needed for lasting change.

We were grateful for the chance to meet new faces, exchange ideas, and continue strengthening connections across Melbourne’s diverse communities.

Thank you to Ellen Sandell for hosting such a welcoming and thoughtful event.
